The West High Music Department curriculum offers four Concert Bands, four Choirs and two Orchestras and a Music Theory class as elective course choices for students of varying degrees of skills and interest, providing prerequisites have been fulfilled. Three jazz bands, two show choirs, chamber choir, chamber wind and chamber string ensembles are offered as extra curricular activities for students enrolled in the curricular performance ensembles. All performances of the curricular performance ensembles are a part of the curriculum and as such are part of the grades assigned for the courses. The West High Music Department has been recognized by the Grammy Foundation as a Signature Gold Music Program! The individual ensembles in the program have received numerous awards and recognitions. |
